Currently, Demand Media is looking to expand its winning editorial team for Demand Studios, an innovative content production house dedicated to creating thousands of valuable articles and videos across dozens of online media properties. The ideal candidate is a Web-savvy, creative thinker who thrives in a rapidly growing and evolving online business environment and possesses a strong drive to shape the face of online social media.

Responsibilities:
Maintain and communicate with a large and ever-changing database of freelance content providers
Help guide and assist a growing community of writers through the content creation process. This includes managing freelance writer inquiries and relationships through our Help Desk system, reviewing articles flagged for plagiarism, providing a second opinion on rejected articles, assisting with guidance and helping content creators through all stages of a standardized editorial process
Monitor quality of writer submissions and provide constructive feedback, qualify and rate writers, identify strong content providers and recommend them for special projects
Review writers flagged for plagiarism or repurposing content and communicate the policy to them
Review applications and determine the best sites, formats and categories for writers and editors
Work extensively with content management systems and interactive tools
Understand and implement SEO best practices to edit and create valuable online content
Collaborate closely with a high-energy team of dedicated editors to grow content and meet other common content goals
Requirements:
Demonstrated proficiency with writing, editing and strong communication skills
Ability to work with freelance writers, make assignments and provide feedback
Solid knowledge of grammar and sentence structure
Ability to successfully juggle several projects simultaneously while working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Clear understanding of online publishing and the competitive landscape
Efficiency, accuracy, strong organizational skills, dependability and a keen eye for detail
Solid Microsoft Office skills
Understanding of traditional journalism and how it fits into the evolving paradigms of the Web
Familiarity with AP style or other publishing style manuals
Strong interpersonal skills and experience collaborating in a team environment
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications or related field preferred
Knowledge of Web publishing tools, such as blog software, a plus
