Summary: 
Serve as an authoritative source of guidance to action officers on proper grammar and correspondence procedures.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position

Serve as an authoritative source of guidance to action officers on proper grammar and correspondence procedures.
Use editorial principles and techniques of communicating information to make certain style and manner of presentation of the information suitable for the intended medium.
Ensure the subject matter is sufficiently clear and cogent to convey the appropriate message to the intended audience, and the issuance fulfills its communication objectives.
Apply the preferences of senior officials for written material to help ensure acceptance of correspondence prepared for their signature.
Learn the DOD organization and functions of JS action processing procedures to assist action officers in preparing JS documents and skill in determining the priority of assorted editing projects in accordance with established EAPB business rules.
The Contractor shall edit correspondence packages for signature for the CJCS, VCJCS, DJS, and VDJS to:
Ensure proper use of grammar, punctuation, and spelling
Make certain style and manner of presentation of the information suits the intended medium.
Confirm the subject matter is sufficiently clear and cogent to convey the appropriate message to the intended audience.
Validate the issuance fulfills its communication objectives
Ensure documents are properly marked and apparent classification inconsistencies are corrected.
The Contractor shall perform the required editing tasks at an independent accuracy rate of at least 90% a month.

This position has not supervisory responsibilities. 

Minimum Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience

The Correspondence Specialist, Level III requires a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in English, Journalism, Communication, Writing, or related field and at least 2 years of experience editing correspondence for senior level officials, as distinct from editing technical manuals, OR a Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communication, Writing, or related field and at least 4 years of experience editing correspondence for senior level officials, as distinct from editing technical manuals.
The individual is required to have executive-level editing experience that requires mastery of grammar and knowledge of classification procedures.

Computer Skills
 
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, especially Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel, Access and SharePoint.

Clearance:
Active TS/SCI is required for this position.
