The ideal candidate for city editor will have a proven record of leading reporters, directing coverage, initiating change and inspiring a night city editor and 11 reporters, including correspondents in Washington, D.C. and Salem, Oregon. This person should also have a solid record of creative thinking, idea generation, supervision and journalistic excellence.
The right person will be able to define the major narratives of Central Oregon and work with people to develop the best well written stories in conjunction with design and graphics.
The top candidate will know how to integrate technology into daily tasks, including computer assisted reporting as well as coordination with the web team to produce online components complimentary to the print version to develop an excellent online and web based presence.
