seeks a Web editor to help oversee the top-level pages of USC Dornsife's Web site (including the posting of all Web stories) as well as to serve as the point person for Dornsife Connect e-newsletters to faculty/staff, students and alumni as well as the Dornsife Events e-newsletter. The Web editor serves as the primary liaison between the Office of Communication and Dornsife Technology Services in maintaining the functionality of the site and may at times assist with sub-unit sites as well. The Web editor is also a point of contact for the users of USC Dornsife's content management system and the USC Dornsife site. In addition to these Web-related duties, the Web Editor is also responsible for interviewing, researching and writing Web and magazine stories.
Job accountabilities include:
Writes and edits documents for University, school, and/or department, such as advertising copy, articles, books, brochures, bulletins, catalogs, letters, manuals and/or other training materials, newsletters, press releases, programs, proposals, speeches, technical reports, theses, etc. Identifies and determines topics or subjects for various projects.
Researches, verifies, reads, pr
fs, edits and rewrites copy. Ensures accuracy and completeness of projects. Interviews sources when appropriate.
Interprets technical, specialized and/or academic material from a wide variety of disciplines or sources to produce written communication pieces for a general audience.
Maintains editorial writing quality for the University, school, and/or department's website. Monitors appropriate style and standard guidelines for website, as needed.
Interacts with all internal and external sources necessary to successfully complete assignments.
3 years; Experience with writing, editing, proofreading, and the preparation of materials for publication.
5 years; Experience writing and editing of materials closely related to university or department activities.
