NW32 (KRCW-TV) is searching for an experienced and dynamic Executive News Producer to oversee the launch and ongoing operation of our daily morning news program. Initially, this position will be responsible for all areas of the start-up, including hiring and training the staff, identifying content sources and working out the technical glitches. Once the show debuts, the Executive Producer will make content assignments and provide leadership and supervision of show talent, producers, contributors and production staff. The Executive Producer will set the daily news priorities, approve all scripts and assist the News Director in critiquing the daily broadcasts – this is a rare opportunity to oversee and grow a fresh, new morning news program from the ground up!
We are looking for a knowledgeable, news-savvy leader with at least 5 years’ experience as a News Producer or Segment Producer. A college degree in journalism or equivalent training is preferred. This position requires a strong background in all aspects of television journalism, including legal issues, writing standards, and production techniques. Must have demonstrated the ability for excellent news judgment, have experience with breaking news, extensive knowledge of current events, and familiarity with governmental, court, police, and other agency procedures. Must have demonstrated effective leadership skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to perform and adjust under pressure. Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written – are essential.
