NYIT seeks an Assistant Director of Editorial Services. The successful candidate will review all internal and external print and digital communications (ranging from course catalogs to press releases to Web copy to marketing materials) for adherence to NYIT editorial style and branding guidelines. The candidate will fact-check institutional information with internal sources and act as a communications liaison to one NYIT school/college to develop newsworthy stories for internal/external use, including newsletters, NYIT Magazine, and news releases. Reporting directly to the Associate Editor of Communications/NYIT Magazine editor and in support of the magazine writer/reporter, the successful candidate will handle internal requests/distributions for magazines, fact-checking and proofing, and inputting changes using Word and InDesign. Further, the candidate will write news briefs and profiles of students/faculty/staff/alumni for internal and external newsletters and magazines. He or she will review and copy-edit printed materials generated by the Department of Publications and Advertising and ensure deadlines are met, workflow remains steady, and the final product is proofed prior to printing.
A bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, public relations, or communications. 3-5 years of experience in print and digital media. Knowledge of AP style required. Basic knowledge of HTML, InDesign, Photoshop, PowerPoint required. Fluency in Chinese or Arabic helpful.
