LWW provides essential information for healthcare professionals in print and electronic formats, including textbooks, journals, CD-ROM, and via Intranets and the Internet.
The Editorial Assistant for the Nursing Education department is responsible for the support of the acquisition/editorial process and the following personnel:
- Executive Editor, Nursing
- Editor, Nursing
- Editor, Nursing
The Editorial Assistant provides support by performing administrative tasks, calendar management, expense report management, travel management, organization and facilitation of team meetings, events, and ordering of office supplies, etc. In addition to this the Editorial Assistant provides suport by performing administrative tasks related to the Editors’ goals of acquiring, contracting, and publishing products for the Health Professions department. The Editorial Assistant will also provide assistance for longer-term and/or calendarized events such as market development, the budgeting process, 3-year forecasting, etc.
The Editorial Coordinator’s primary responsibilities include:
o Assistance with the Publishing Committee / Proposal Process
o Managing the Peer Review Process
o Recruiting Reviewers
o Ensuring Reviews are Completed
o Compensating Reviewers
o Effective Presentation of Review materials for the Publishing packet and to invested colleagues
o Entering of information into proprietary title management systems to appropriately generate system proposals and P&Ls
o Collation and distribution of materials (and any revisions required) for Publishing Committee
o Assistance with Contract Process for both Authors and Contributors
o Generating and distributing Contracts including title contracts, grants, advance addendums
o Submitting contract for approval and tracking approval; Upon approval entering contract into Signings Report
o Completing Royalty Information Form
o Publishing Support
o Recruitment of Manuscript Review board, managing review process during development cycle
o Processing of Payments
o Placing orders for products, etc
o Administrative Support
o Calendar Management
o Xeroxing, Filing, etc as requested
o Assistance to Senior Publisher as directed
o Departmental Level Support
o Serve as colleague and peer to other Editorial Assistant(s) in the department
o Updating, maintaining and creating training documentation for the Editorial Assistant position
o Coordinating and facilitating author meetings and other meetings as called for by the editors
Qualifications: Education:
College degree (BA/BS) required.
2 years work experience.
Ideal candidate will have either some publishing experience or operational / support experience.
Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications: (First list requirements, followed by preferences.)
o Strong oral and written communication skills.
o High degree of professionalism.
o Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
o Strong project management skills
o Attention to detail; ability to meet deadlines
o General computer literacy and specific demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office software – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
