Journalist Coordinator Jobs
Coordinators help newspaper and magazine editors manage the style and content of written publications such as newspapers, magazines and trade journals. They coordinate the direction of a publication with the senior management of the media company, or they may be responsible for an individual coordination. The coordinators are responsible for commissioning articles. Coordinators also have a hand in deciding which articles will be included in the publication and decide how they will be laid out for publishing. Coordinators consider submissions for inclusion from freelance journalists, photographers, and illustrators. Coordinators also rarely have responsibility for other matters such as budgetary control, hiring staff, and working with advertising and production departments. They sometimes have the task of organizing conferences or meetings related to journalistic work and assignment of tasks to each member of the organization.
To become a coordinator, the job candidate should be a post graduate in English Literature or journalism or should possess any media degree. Experience with small editing firms and content companies are also useful.
