Purpose: Under the general direction of the associate director, develop and implement communications strategies for internal and external audiences in support of UPMC Health System's mission. Responsibilities: Communicate all financial information in a timely manner to appropriate departmental parties, both during and at the completion of each project. Demonstrate service-oriented behavior in interactions with clients and co-workers. Handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize projects appropriately. Maintain an accurate record of hours worked and work a sufficient number of billable hours to meet annual productivity goals. Manage projects of increased complexity, sensitivity, or importance to the organization, or edit major publication. Manage other printed communications projects for UPMC clinical or nonclinical programs, including letters, brochures, booklets, and articles (in some cases feature-length or scientific), as well as nonprint projects such as videotapes, seminars, community activities, and lectures. Provide public relations support to UPMC departments and committees as needed. Independently plan, research, and write copy that is creative, well organized, concise, stylistically appropriate to the audience and purpose, and conforming to department style rules. Coordinate the work of contributing Public Relations staff including editing their copy. Take responsibility for approvals and accuracy of information communicated. Monitor budget and manage distribution and delivery of projects. Complete projects on time and within budget. Oversee graphic design and production process (including printing) so that projects are appropriate for the audience and message. Proofread and edit copy for other Public Relations staff in conformity with department style rules. Serve as Public Relations liaison to management staff and medical leadership of clinical and nonclinical programs, providing consultation and strategic communications planning where appropriate. Qualifications Bachelors degree in English, journalism, communications, health sciences, or a related field. Three years experience in a public relations position or related field. Must have excellent communication, multitasking, organizational, research\/interviewing, writing, grammar, and interpersonal skills. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal Act 73 FBI Clearance UPMC is an equal opportunity employer.
