Overview Pay Grade/Pay Range: Non Classified - Grade NA Department/Organization: 600113 - Athletics Communications Normal Work Schedule: 9:00 - 5:00 Job Summary: The Athletic Intern will work with the Athletic Department staff and student athletes in an intern position. The incumbent will assist in the everyday duties as specified by the internship. Additional Department Summary: The Athletics Communications Intern will work with the athletics communications office staff, as well as selected coaches and student-athletes in an intern position. The incumbent will assist in the everyday duties as specified by the internship. This position assists with the daily functions of the athletics communications office including event coverage, press releases, statistical and biographical upkeep, social media, and media coordination. Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in any field and at least one year of experience in a collegiate or professional athletics communications office either as an intern, graduate assistant or student assistant. Knowledge of desktop publishing software, such as Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, and experience with web applications such as Netitor, Sidearm, etc., necessary. Requires night and weekend work in support of athletic events. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier. Skills and Knowledge: Effective communication skills, both oral and written. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in journalism, communications, public relations or related field.
