You have the ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.What we’re looking for: A Transit Videojournalist to research, develop, write, edit and deliver live presentation of news stories on a deadline. Contribute to special features and stories. Participate in coordinating coverage of major stories, breaking news and specials. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCreate original news stories; gather information for news stories using beat sources, contacts and leadsBuild contacts and sources within the community and establish a community presence outside of the newscastsNavigates in-depth reports to own recorded and/or LIVE breaking newsDeliver news reports, including live reports that demonstrate energy, confidence, professional appearance and voice qualityWrite and edit own news stories for an assigned newscast or news series within assigned deadlinesCombine video, audio and graphics to tell the story effectivelyWorks with photographer on assigned storiesManage general upkeep of assigned company equipmentStrategically engages in social mediaMay fill-in as an Anchor when neededResponsible for representing channel in a professional mannerPerform other duties as assignedQualifications:Skills/Abilities and KnowledgeAbility to read, write, speak and understand EnglishMust have sufficiently strong story development skills in order to submit original story ideas on a daily basisMust be able to develop sources, work a beat, and break storiesMust have strong on-camera skillsMust have ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and work under time pressure deadlineExcellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly communicate solutions; and able to relate well with diverse populations and age groupsAbility to interface with internal company personnelRequires adaptability, enthusiasm, initiative and a positive approach to problem solvingMust be able and willing to work different shifts, report to work on time, and be flexible with schedule changesMust be adept at social mediaAbility to handle breaking news on-airMust obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license for authorized driving in the State of residenceEducation & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related filed or comparable television work experience5 years of Television news reporting and live shot experienceOur Culture: Every employee is an influencer and culture keeper.
