Florida Hospital Winter Park seeks to hire an Internal Communication Specialist who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

Nestled among the oak-shaded, brick-paved streets of one of the most picturesque hometowns in the country, Winter Park Memorial Hospital has continuously served the residents of Winter Park and its surrounding communities for more than 50 years. Chartered in 1951, the hospital has grown from the visionary efforts of a handful of Winter Park residents and community leaders, to a 307-bed acute care facility that is a model of community health and wellness. Over the years the hospital has continually expanded to meet the needs of the community, adding an upscale obstetrics and Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at The Dr. P. Phillips Baby Place, cancer care at the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute, Winter Park, and state-of-the-art surgery, recovery and rehabilitation at the Florida Hospital Orthopaedic Institute. 8a-5p; M-F

Job Summary:

The Specialist is directly responsible for all campus internal communication. Primary responsibility includes managing and elevating all employee communications initiatives, including, but not limited to: weekly written communication (Energizers, newsletter, flyers, e-mail); internal website design/management, capturing, editing, producing news video; coordinating quarterly employee town hall and other internal events. Specialist also writes content for all internal collaterals and coordinating production of materials with our internal design department; managing content and production of all video production for internal usage. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:

Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

Creative script and news writing skills

Fundamental knowledge of news media

Proficient computer and design skills, including MS Office suite and Adobe design software

Ability to work well with others using tact and diplomacy

Well-organized; ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, work independently and take direction

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, Public Relations, Communication, Marketing, English, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field AND

Two or more years of relevant experience in marketing, public relations, communication, information systems, or journalism with proven results

Video experience

Experience designing and managing website content (Preferred)

1-3 years of health care and/or advertising experience (Preferred)

Video on- and off-camera experience (Preferred)

Experience managing event activation (Preferred)

Job Responsibilities:

Demonstrates through behavior Florida Hospital’s Core Values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship and Teamwork as outlined in the organization’s Performance Excellence Program

Effectively works with internal and external resources to produce high quality written and oral communication; facilitates ongoing internal communication assignments as requested by representatives of Marketing, Human Resources, or Administration.

Manages the design, creation, and implementation of the campus employee website; works closely with FH web team; gathers content for website, monitors website utilization, makes changes and/or suggestions to increase employee awareness through the web.

Seeks and researches internal news stories through meetings with administration, physicians and front-line employees. Weekly publishes the daily Energizers with campus-specific content. News stories and information are always relevant, accurate, and timely.

Provides regular and timely updates of news and events on internal websites and throughout the hospital to address the needs of employees and leadership; develops new internal communications outlets as necessary to address the needs of employees and leadership; gathers content for campus internal social media sites.

Manages all video production for campus internal audiences, which may include script writing, capturing, and editing video. May include coordination of production, including talent and location, for outsourced video projects.

May actively participate in TEAM Element and campus leadership meeting to stay up-to-date and communicate news/events that have impact on employees/internal audience.

Coordinates employee/internal events, including quarterly Town Hall meetings. Ensures media/content for events is important to the employee family; ensures that campus mission, vision, values, and four purposes are communicated consistently. Creates and maintains feedback mechanisms to help facilitate open dialogue between employees and leadership.

Completes projects and publishes content within established or adjusted budget and agreed upon time frames.

Works on special projects as requested.

Performs other duties as necessary to maintain the functioning of the department.
