Position Summary:This position develops, maintains and oversees all Division of Online & Continuing Education (OCE) social media accounts and creates high quality content that integrates across web channels and social media platforms. The incumbent will focus on telling the story of OCE through blogging, social media, and online platforms to effectively, and appropriately share stories with targeted groups. This position will stay up-to-date on the rapidly changing online landscape to incorporate innovative social media practices to advance OCE goals. This position is also responsible for the maintenance of high quality content for the Division's website by reviewing, editing, and revising content to engage and develop relationships with multiple stakeholders. The incumbent will serve as a copy editor for OCE faculty in the online learning environment.
Social Media Developer - 50%
Develop, maintain, oversee, and optimize the OCE social media accounts.
Create high quality content that integrates across web channels and social media platforms.
Create engaging and accurate content for social media campaigns and initiatives.
Proofread postings to ensure accuracy and relevance to audience; edit and update as necessary.
Track social media metrics such as volume, reach and engagement.
Adjust social media techniques to increase traffic and conversion.
Create and maintain OCE blog materials.
Website Maintenance - 25%
Review website content to ensure the most up-to-date messaging.
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of content.
Upload news releases, images, and multimedia elements including photos and videos.
Outreach Communications - 25%
Prepare department reports or presentations.
Organize and standardize course materials for OCE faculty.
Initiate content material ideas for UMC project submission by writing, proofreading, ensuring accuracy, correct grammar, and proper format.
In conjunction with the OCE Directors, develop and execute a comprehensive communication plan including an E-marketing plan.
Produce visual assets - photograph and/or video - that can be utilized across multiple marketing channels, including web, social media, e-newsletters, print, magazine, etc.
Coordinate logistics including interviews, photo shoots, and fact checking.
Create relationships with stakeholders to develop stories for external and internal audiences.
Maintain awareness of industry and platform best practices, along with emerging trends and opportunities.
Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, communications or a directly related field.
At least one year of professional level experience in social media, professional writing, journalism or related field.
Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
Advanced knowledge of grammar and excellent writing and editing skills.
Extreme attention to detail.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
Outstanding customer service skills.
Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
Writing for the web, short-form creative writing, editing, and proofreading.
Ability to tell a story with words and visuals, with excellent written communication and grammar.

Capable of measuring the impact of social media activities using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
Strong analytical mindset, but with a creative mind to approach challenges in unique ways.
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including some evening and/or weekend hours.
Familiarity and experience with social media platforms including: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Snapchat in a professional or business environment.
Experience in a higher education institution.
Experience using InDesign or Canvas.
Experience with content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
Advanced knowledge of digital audio and video recording equipment, experience operating such equipment and experience with digital audio and video editing software.
