Job Title Assistant Editor - Better Homes & Gardens
The assistant editor is a full-time position supporting the senior style editor, senior home editor, beauty & fashion director, and health & features director. The assistant editor will help each of the four editors with research, market work, photoshoots, and administrative duties. The goal is for the assistant editor to develop a working knowledge of the home, tabletop, beauty, fashion, fitness, and wellness markets to source products for stories and conceptualize and pitch story and trend ideas and produce approved pitches as needed.
Essential Job Functions20% Research products and fact-check credits and shopping info in each editor's section.
15% Assist on set with home photoshoots; help set up and organize photoshoots.
15% Research and call in photos for stories.
15% Represent Better Homes & Gardens at press events as assigned by the department editors.
10% File beauty products and organize beauty closet. Run beauty sale.
10% Handle expenses for all four editors.
10% Stay on top of incoming products & books; pick up bags from mailroom, mail product to Des Moines
5% Transcribe interviews.
Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.Education:College degree in journalism or related field or equivalent work experience. Experience:Minimum three years working in a media organization or brand with experience related to lifestyle and home.
