The Communications Coordinator provides communication, public relations and marketing services to assigned school district with the assistance and the support of the CCIU Communications Department. Responsibilities include organizing, planning, controlling and directing the flow of information concerning images, events and activities relating to the assigned school districtâ€™s employees and students, to members of the community and surrounding communities and coordinating various public relations and community education projects for the school district. REPORTING: CCIU Communications Manager is responsible for advising, evaluating, and ensuring the communications coordinator is providing requested services toassignedschool district. Superintendent of assigned school district supervises and directsday-to-daywork of the communications coordinator. Works cooperatively with school district administrators, supervisors, staff, parents, students and others to perform job responsibilities as outlined. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelorâ€™s Degree in Communications, journalism or Bachelor's with related experience 3-5 years public relations,corporate communications, and news writing experience Excellent grammatical and language skills to write, proof, edit and prepare written communications. Extensive knowledge of publication design, social media, effective verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational skills for project management. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Coordinate production, publication and distribution of all district publications, including but not limited to newsletters and brochures. Maintain and update the Districtâ€™s website insuring timely, accurate and newsworthy information about district events and accomplishments, as well as operate and manage the District social media accounts, District calendar and email blasts. Act as the communications liaison with local newspaper reporters and prepare and disseminate news releases and information materials to the news media. Write, publish, and send out district-level press releases on a frequent and timely basis to local newspapers highlighting accomplishments of both staff and students. Arrange for media coverage at all school functions as requested. Assist in the communication of the Districtâ€™s strategic planning initiatives. Assist with crisis management and emergency situations. Coordinate with Superintendent the communication of all weather related emergencies. Annually submit proposed budget items for the Districtâ€™s communications office. Supervise the Districtâ€™s volunteer program, including the senior citizen tax relief program. Attend all School Board meetings Perform other duties as assigned by Superintendent
