The Residence Life program is built on a student learning philosophy that values inclusiveness, discovery, benchmarking, community, communication, and celebration. Primary Purpose of the Position: This position will create the visual graphic design for print and digital media and coordinate new media and networking community websites and utilize technology to interact and communicate with students. This position will enable the university community to meet students where they are in the virtual world using social media technology. The position will work directly with Residence Life, departments in Student Affairs and with external departments throughout the university, including ITS, University Relations, University College, and others as assigned to streamline effective online communications and marketing efforts. Description of Work Continued: Change in Responsibilities or Organizational Relationship: Residence Life is during restructuring and rebranding the department. The volume of work needed and the requests for collaboration with other departments within the Division of Student Affairs and external departments has increased to the point where this needs to be a temporary position. The Marketing & Media Coordinator will report to the Director of Housing and Residence Life. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: A bachelor\u2019s degree in marketing and\/or communications, or related field. A minimum of one-year professional experience. Possess knowledge and experience in marketing. Ability to work seamlessly from the creative side of marketing to the analytical side of data. Display in-depth knowledge and understanding of Social Media platforms, their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest etc.) and how platforms are best deployed in relevant scenarios. Ability to guide co-workers when necessary (e.g. content development, creation and editing of content, online reputation management). Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in writing. Evidence of achievement in a team culture. The Marketing and Media Coordinator should have Strong graphic design knowledge and skill. Strong project management or organizational skills; In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and their respective participants (Houzz, Facebook, Instagram, Digg, You Tube, Twitter, Pinterest, Flickr and other etc.); Ability to manage social media campaigns and day-to-day activities, such as online advocacy, writing editorial, community-outreach efforts, promotions, etc.; Ability to manage presence in social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter, and other similar community sites, posting on relevant blogs, and seeding content into social applications as needed; Ability to serve as an advocate in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate; Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format, and build and maintain relationships; Ability to serve as a team player, with the confidence to take the lead and guide others when necessary; and Advanced technical understanding and broad knowledge of multimedia applications, the Internet, and the World Wide Web; the ability to write HTML, XML, and Java Script; experience with such design and web development software. The coordinator must have strong graphic design skills and social media competencies to contribute to the Marketing team and the ability to build a communications platform. Knowledge Technical-Understand and use communication, design and visual art concepts and practices pertinent to marketing and social media strategies. Determine, utilize, and apply standard and specialized techniques and technology appropriately. Use and incorporate various hardware and software packages, and social media platforms as well as traditional design methods. Research and identify new technology and make recommendations for use and purchase. Train interns in use of new methods and technical tools. Knowledge skills and abilities: oKnowledge Professional- Thorough knowledge of the methods and techniques of planning, writing and editing and producing content. Edit and analyze informational material or content prepared by others. Possess thorough knowledge of the techniques for disseminating information to the public and target groups. oCommunication- Independently understand, assimilate and communicate program information in its complexity and discuss the impact to targeted audiences; Establish and maintain a variety of working relationships throughout the University community. Assimilate and compose written materials to use in a variety of communication outlets; Edit documents to ensure accuracy in content and form; Draft communications for final release. Excellent command and proper usage of written English using the appropriate style guide or accepted industry standards. oConsulting \/Advising- Identify, advise and collaborate with Residence Life\/Student Affairs regarding communication needs and issues; Provide options on the type of strategy to use with communication plans and gauge their potential effectiveness. oProject Management-Consult with and determine Department\/Division needs and project parameters. Plan and manage multi-faceted and specialized projects. Conceptualize and create communications as they relate to Residence Life\/ Student Affairs from creation through delivery oOrganizational Sensitivity-Understand the mission, objectives and goals of Residence Life \/ Student Affairs. Understand internal workings of Residence Life \/ Student Affairs in relation to the external expectations of the clients and stakeholders. Assess the potential impact of internal\/external communications efforts and make necessary adjustments. Preferred Qualifications:
