We have a growing team and foster a welcoming, respectful, and collaborative culture. We’re looking for an editorial coordinator who will be responsible for tracking editorial budgets, facilitating hiring and onboarding, coordinating staff events, and coordinating across audio, written, and video journalism teams to address other needs as they arise. This is an entrepreneurial job designed to help our the entire Vox team do its best work.
The coordinator’s overall mission is to keep Vox happy and focused. Our team is the most important component of our success, and as we grow we need to stay committed to giving them the best-possible experience.
Your primary responsibilities:
Track editorial budgets and other essential administrative tasks, including equipment and software purchases, payroll, freelance contracts, etc.
Work with recruiting team to facilitate hiring process
Provide a smooth and comprehensive onboarding experience for new staff members and interns
Various editorial tasks, including assisting in event planning and special projects
Schedule and execute efficient staff meetings, including catering, if necessary
Ensure clear and timely communication across the team and with the rest of the company
Maintain and build relationships with all members of our team in DC, NYC, and various remote locations
Serve as our primary point of contact for the Finance, IT, Legal, and People & Culture teams
Coordinate award submissions
Assisting Vox leadership team as needed
Self-starter with a strong work ethic, high level of professionalism and flexible, can-do attitude
Strong organizational and writing skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Experience working in or adjacent to media is a plus
