Unfortunately, many employees of Gannett Co. are left jobless after staff reductions this past week. On Tuesday, Gannett announced job cuts at six of its newspapers in New Jersey.
One hundred and twenty full- and part-time jobs were eliminated from its facilities in Neptune, Cherry Hill, East Brunswick, Bridgewater, Parsippany, and Vineland. A specific breakdown of how many employees were laid off at each facility was not released.
However, according to reports, Gannett did provide severance packages to employees who were released.
According to Gannett, the layoffs are part of a plan to eliminate 1,000 jobs throughout the US. The company says deteriorating business conditions are responsible for the layoffs.
