USA Today to cut 5% of staff

Editor Ken Paulson told staff about the impending cuts in a memo Sunday evening.
The cuts will eliminate about five per cent of jobs from a newsroom that employs about 450 people.
The newspaper, with a circulation of 2.25 million each workday, cut 45 newsroom jobs last November, and other papers owned by its parent, McLean,
The entire newspaper industry is struggling, not just because of the weak economy, but also from an ongoing decline in circulation and the migration of advertising dollars to the Internet.
